Since 1981, Marc Haefele has written about Los Angeles for media that include LA Weekly, City News Service, the LA Times, California Magazine, the Philadelphia Inquirer, Los Angeles magazine, KNX radio, KPFK radio and KPCC-FM, where he has been a regular political and cultural commentator for 18 years.
Before that, his work appeared in the Morristown (NJ) Daily Record and the New York Times. Between 1965 and 1971, he worked for Random House and Doubleday publishers. As a Doubleday editor, his authors included Philip K. Dick; Isaac Asimov, Kate Millett and Marge Piercy.
Haefele has taught Journalism at Calstate LA and UCLA Extension. He has a BA in History from New York University and an MA in History from Calstate Los Angeles. He lives in Santa Monica with his wife and cat.
